During morning worship, we covenanted to represent PPC and the body of Christ to the best of our abilities and the congregation covenanted to continue supporting us with their prayers during the trip and by taking an interest in our efforts by reading our reflections online (thus, this blog), viewing pictures and videos, and coming to hear our stories in worship once they return (remember, the mission team will lead worship on June 30th and will host a lunch to share more stories following worship that day).
Here is part of the pray of blessing for the mission team that was read in worship:
God of Resurrection, Lord of New Life, as we give thanks for the new life you offer to all, we also give thanks for those who have presented themselves to serve you and your resurrection power next week in Kentucky. We ask you to empower this mission team to be your hands and feet. Help them to glorify you by serving others. By their actions and words, make them witnesses of your great love and your passion for rescuing your people. Protect them, teach them, and support them as they take this next step in their own faith journeys toward becoming the people you have called them to be. Fill them with the Holy Spirit and enable them to do their tasks faithfully and joyfully. Bring them safely home and then let their experience further enrich us, so that we too will glorify you by serving our community in the love of Christ. Amen.
